Don't Put All Your Eggs In One Basket
Before you dedicate time and resources to SEO, it's important to recognize two important things about it.
- SEO is a substantial investment - This often gets overlooked when comparing organic search to channels like pay-per-click advertising, because the capital outflows aren't as visible.
- You have no direct control over the outcomes - Doing SEO by the book usually results in positive outcomes, but at the end of the day, Google holds all of the cards. It doesn't owe you any traffic, and it can take it all away in an instant.
With that in mind, it's best to think of SEO as a set of best practices that you can implement in your marketing plan and the day-to-day management of your website. This can contribute to organic search's performance as an ancillary marketing channel in your overall traffic mix. This prevents wasted spend and keeps your efforts focused.
If you take an old-fashioned approach of "doing SEO" as a way to develop traffic by itself, this can lead to poor results.
Here's How I Can Help
I provide a comprehensive suite of SEO services for brands, including both SEO strategy and hands-on SEO execution.
SEO Strategy
As I mentioned above, SEO is a big investment. It involves web development, content creation, outreach and local SEO, and you need to do it for a little while before you start to see any return.
I work with brands to put together strategic plans to help them focus only on the stuff that matters. This is one part strategy and one part education, where I also educate your team on web development and content best practices to improve SEO.
Hands-On SEO Execution
Sometimes you just need someone to do the work. That's where I can help out too. With more than a decade doing SEO, I can put my expertise to work for you, quickly producing high quality work with website updates, copywriting and more.
Isn't SEO Going Extinct With AI?
Yep! Especially if your brand is in a category like developer or marketing tools, your potential customers are going to be using Copilot or ChatGPT rather than wading through Google results. Similarly, if you need to reach Zoomers or younger generations, you're better off marketing on TikTok.
But, like a guy at the start of the Bronze Age trying to sell people on the benefits of stone, lots of people still use search engines. Google is, by far, the single-largest referrer of traffic on the internet, still accounting for two-thirds of all web referrals. People still use it (for now).
